Employment Opportunities

Natural Roots is currently accepting applications for a full time TEAMSTER, April through November for the 2026 growing season. Previous experience driving horses is required, with vegetable experience strongly preferred. Pay is commensurate with experience and housing needs. Housing is available. This is a salaried position. 

We’re looking for an energetic, positive, detail-oriented person who can work well in a team and also independently. Confidence in driving horses, a focus on safety, and physical fitness and endurance for the work are important qualities.  

Position involves:

  • General horse care and maintenance
  • Draft horse handling, riding, harnessing, hitching and driving
  • Horsework in vegetable production
  • General animal husbandry, including fencing and pasture management
  • Vegetable harvesting, washing, and packing
  • Crop culture including pest and disease management 
  • Pastured poultry management, egg washing and packing 
  • Equipment use, maintenance, and repair
  • CSA set-up
  • Building and repair projects as they arise

Farm work Schedule: 

  • Farm / teamster work Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 5:00 pm with a 1 hour lunch break
  • Morning chores from 6:00 am to 7:30 am one morning per week
  • Evening chores from 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm one to two evenings per week
  • Weekend chores on two weekends per month

Compensation:

We are also accepting applications full-time and part time crew member positions for the 2026 season.

Tasks will include general fieldwork, transplanting, irrigating, trellising, mulching, pruning, weeding, harvesting, and washing and packing produce. Previous farm experience preferred. Must be able to lift 50lbs. We will compile applications and begin interviewing for these positions in late fall through winter. To apply, please use the application form here.

We also occasionally offer an advanced apprenticeship program for aspiring and experienced farmers looking to gain comprehensive knowledge and skills in draft-powered farming to become a teamster. Apprenticeship interviews occur on a rolling basis and are not offered every year - Generally, we begin interviewing in August for the next year, with decisions made by January. Please submit your application as far in advance as possible. There will NOT be an apprenticeship position in 2026.
